With the Timmelsjoch High Alpine road, in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl one of the best known passes in the Alps is right on the hotel doorstep. On the highest pass crossing in teh East Alps you will come across spectacular viewing points, probably the most beautiful natural panoramas in the Alps, crystal-clear mountain streams and traditional inns. Hohler Stein near Vent (2050 m) is a hunting and shepherds station from the Stone Age (8th to 4th century B.C.). Archaeological excavations near Vent have revealed that from 8000 B.C. the region was a hunting area for Mesolithic hunter-gatherers.

From farmers' bath to a spa town. One of the characteristics of Ötztal includes its sulphur springs. The most well-known are the subterranean springs which feed the "sulphur lake" beneath Amberger Hütte and the sulphur thermal baths in Längenfeld.
The Forchet, an extensive, forested rock slide area, a unique landscape fundamentally unchanged by people that today has to date defied any cultivation. The hiking path is well set-out , easy to walk on and there are plenty of areas to rest at, observe life and just pause for thought.

Pay a visit to one of our many museums and get an insight into the fascinating history of the valley. Dive into a time around 5000 years ago, when Ötzi was still alive and see what daily life was like for farmers in high mountain areas in the middle of the 20th century.
The new "ARTeEVENT" and hiking theatre "Friedl mit der leeren Tasche" are new cultural highlights in the Ötztal event calendar.
Obergugl too will have a key role to play from 2020 in the cultural and event-packed programme in Ötztal. A new event centre is being built where conferences and events will be held.
The biggest museum of local history in Ötztal is located in a 30 year old farm and reveals how the Ötztal people lived centuries ago.
The Tower museum inspires thanks to architectural details dating from the Romanesque era to the present. However, the main feature of the museum is its pictures!
Living, staying and managing a small village community at the time of Ötzi. Ötzi village, a 9000m² archaeological open-air park is situated beneath the Stuibenfalls and takes visitors back to the Neolithic period.
In spite of active building activity since the Second World War and a palpable desire for contemporary living, happily in old Oetz so much has remained intact. The architecturally unspoilt centre of the old, scattered village settlement is particularly picturesque.
