Walk over a carpet of grassy meadows, with Alpine springs and wildly romantic mountain huts, right up to the glaciers at the foot of the highest summits. Right behind Hochgurgl, you will find Austria's highest border post, Timmelsjoch, which lies at 2,509 metres above sea level. This marks the dividing line between the Ötztal Alps and the Stubai Alps, while linking the Ötztal valley in the Tyrol with the Passeiertal valley in the South Tyrol. The scenic South Tyrolean town of Meran, with its rich vineyards, offers southern flair and an ideal destination for a whole- or half-day excursion
