So close to the heavens
Hike to your heart's content.
Majestic views and breathtaking mountains for as far as the eye can see. Experience that feeling of real freedom as you emerge above the tree line.
Walk over a carpet of grassy meadows, with Alpine springs and wildly romantic mountain huts, right up to the glaciers at the foot of the highest summits. At these altitudes, you will not be troubled by dust, pollen or mites. And it's not just allergy sufferers who feel the benefit of the high mountain air. Up here you experience a whole new world.
Right behind Hochgurgl, you will find Austria's highest border post, Timmelsjoch, which lies at 2,509 metres above sea level. This marks the dividing line between the Ötztal Alps and the Stubai Alps, while linking the Ötztal valley in the Tyrol with the Passeiertal valley in the South Tyrol.
The scenic South Tyrolean town of Meran, with its rich vineyards, offers southern flair and an ideal destination for a whole- or half-day excursion
We also recommend a visit to the Aqua Dome, a recently-rebuilt health spa located in Längenfeld.
